Creating a highly productive customer and Florida-friendly nursery, landscape maintenance, and farm operation that offers a variety of opportunities for persons with disabilities.

Horticulture Training provides instruction in both a classroom setting and through hands-on experiences. Classroom study includes plant growth and development, plant propagation, applying fertilizers, irrigation procedures, pests and pest control, pruning, installation of plant materials, safety precautions, and how to maintain plants and equipment. Practical application is received through hands-on opportunities in the CHAC Plant Nursery and greenhouse, The Organic Farm, and by assisting with grounds maintenance around the 32-acre main campus. Additional opportunities are available for off-campus horticulture experiences, and upon completion, students may choose to participate in community-based employment in the horticulture field.

The Organic Farm utilizes 8-acres of the CHAC campus to produce organic food and host a vermi-compost operation. It will eventually have a food processing operation. The first crop of tomatoes was planted and harvested in the spring of 2003. This crop fed preschool students, was sold to staff and adult consumers of services. The farm has provided training and employment opportunities for CHAC consumers.
